MEXICO WOMEN PREPARE FOR CANADA IN SOUTH KOREA'S PEACE QUEEN CUP.    18th October 2010

CONCACAF

The Mexican Women's coach Cuellar has accepted an invitation to South Korea for a three-game tournament: The Peace Queen Cup. These matches are the Mexicans' final preparations before the October 28-November 8 CONCACAF championship in Cancun.

In the first game of group B of the 2010 Peace Queen Cup Suwon, Australia defeated the Mexicans 3:1. The Mexican team gave up 2 goals in the first half and one in the second. .

The Australians attacked Mexico aggressively from the start of the game. The Mexican defence could not deal with the Australians’ agility, dribbling ability and sharply crossed passes. They reeled from the attack by the FIFA 11th ranked seeds right from the whistle.

The first goal started came from the left foot of McCallum who had already missed a good chance to score by hitting a goal post. The score seemed to energize Australia even more, and Kathryn Gill scored a second, from McCallum’s corner at 29 minutes.

Mexico became more active in the second half, but the Australian goal keeper allowed no chances. Instead, Australian Sally Shipard scored from 40 meters, in the 18 minute of the second half. Mexico's lone goal came from Maribel Dominguez from close range at the 19th minute.
