COACH MORACE ANNOUNCES FLORIDA CAMP 30 October 2009

Canadian Women’s National team head coach Carolina Morace today announced details of Canada’s training camp in Sunrise, Florida. The 12 day camp will run 3rd-14th November, 2009, and feature 22 players.

“This is an important training camp as we continue to build towards the FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualification tournament in 2010,” said head coach Morace. “As our program is currently in a transition phase, any time we spend together is very valuable. I have taken this opportunity to expand the pool of players for the senior National Team program by inviting several players who haven’t been involved in the past.”

Morace has drawn her roster from diverse sources, including five players who spent 2009 on WPL rosters, five from CIS Universities, three from European Club sides, and two from NCAA college teams. Thirteen of the players are from the squad that faced the USA in the summer series.

The Canadian Women's National team is currently ranked 13th in the FIFA world rankings, down from 9th after the Olympics. Canada, whose title partner is Winners and whose presenting partner is Teck, remains the second-ranked team within CONCACAF behind the world champions: the United States.
