SOCCER MEDIA REPORTS:
CANADIAN WOMEN HOLD NINTH PLACE IN FIFA WORLD RANKINGS
7th June 2008
From a CSA Report
Canada's National Women's team has held its ninth-place position in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings. The Canadian women have held their
position since 2007. Canada is also the second-ranked country in the CONCACAF region, while their confederation rival, the United States,
ranks first
overall in world rankings.

The USA heads the world rankings ahead of Germany, while the next tier of
nations is occupied by Sweden and Brazil, and slightly further back are Norway
and Korea DPR. The 26 matches at the Beijing Olympics will be worth as many
ranking points as games in the FIFA Women's World Cup. Canada will be looking to
break into this top six ranking.
The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings looks at each country's international results from the last four years. The ranking takes into account the result,
the importance of the match, the strength of the opponent, the regional strength, the time period, and the number of matches per year.
Canada is followed in 10th place by Japan, then England and Australia. Meanwhile, France occupies eighth place ahead of them.
