Canada has dropped two places to No. 8 in
the FIFA women's world rankings after its poor showing at
the 2011 FIFA World Cup.
The Canadians, who will host the 2015
tournament, failed to win a game in the competition held
in Germany, and exited after the first round.
The United States remains atop the rankings
despite its World Cup final defeat to Japan in a penalty
shootout last Sunday. Japan remained unchanged at No. 4
The U.S. has topped the standings since
March 2008, and is followed by Germany, Brazil, Japan and
Sweden. England climbs four places to No. 6, ahead of its
quarter-finals conqueror France.
North Korea drops four to No. 12 and now
faces a FIFA disciplinary investigation after five of its
players tested positive for anabolic steroids at the
tournament in Germany.
The FIFA women's rankings include 129
national teams.
