RHIAN'S SOCCER JOURNALS:
LOSS AGAINST NORWAY 12th September 2007
Obviously, we are all a little disappointed from the 2 - 1 loss against Norway. I am writing this
journal before I have even showered so please forgive me if I sound a little bitter
and upset at our defeat.
I thought we had a really great first 40 minutes with the stronger and better chances. I have not
had an opportunity to see the disallowed Tank goal yet, but my initial reaction, later supported by
the slow motion film, was that we were slightly robbed there. It is hard to be too critical of the
referee, as I think she had a good game.

The second half was definitely Norway's in terms of chances and possession. It is rather hard to admit
this, as I entered the game at the half. I thought we dropped a little too low, a natural reaction to a team
applying pressure, but that many have been one of the reasons our foot came off the accelerator. Norway
changed their defensive structure too, and we received very little ball up front.
On a positive note, I think that we showed moments of what we can accomplish when everything comes
together for us. In the last World Cup we lost our opening game against Germany, and we know that a loss
in Game One hurts, but in no way does it mean that we are down and out. The World Cup in an intense
tournament and if we are to succeed at all, we are going to have show what we are made of and bounce
back from this loss as quickly as possible.
