POSTCARD 3 CAMBRIDGE & GAME TWO COMING   28th July 2012

The first game is but a memory; the result remains a sore.

we set off after an early start for a jaunt to Cambridge. Jill and I have not been back for many years and the Mathesons had never been. It is a long drive, but we parked and took a bus into the city core. Not too much has changed. The same legions of foreign students in town for ESL courses. The same beautiful buildings and beautiful grounds.

We started at Trinity and toured the rounds and chapel, the Wren library and my old digs in New Court and at 26 Sussex Drive. The porters were wonderful and allowed us into Hall and the Old Kitchens. We finished with a punt along the Backs to Mill Street.

Lunch was at the Eagle Pub - crowded, but the food was good. Then it was a long drive home via Rugby town and a dinner at Norton Grange our local pub. Thee s not much interest in the Olympics from Brits in this part of the world, so we retired to our rooms to watch the opening ceremonies on TV. The event looked spectacular.

The time is flying by. We spoke to Rhian and Diana and all is set for Game Two tomorrow. Sweden only beat South Africa by 3 - 1, so we know they may be a handful.
