We defeated Cuba 2-0 tonight and a big thank you to the over 12,000 fans who came out to cheer us on. Apparently this is a record for a senior women's soccer game in Canada. Cuba is not ranked very highly, but I thought that while they did not really challenge us in attack, they played a strong game against us and stymied many good attacks.

They did a good job of keeping eleven players behind the ball. They bunkered down and made us work hard for our win. The result was good for us, because a win is a win, is a win. The result was also good for Cuba, as they showed they could hold a top 10 team to just two goals. This is a big accomplishment, so well done to them.

Well done mostly though, to my teammates out on the field. The game was not the easiest match for them. The blanket defence was frustrating, but the team kept their cool and took the result we needed- brava!

I enjoyed staying behind after the game and meeting some of the fans who had come out to support us. Again a special shout out to the Asian Korean gnomes. They definitely win our award for the most loyal fans and an even bigger award for the best dressed, wonderful bearded ladies! Thank you for my Queen CD. I am a huge fan and have already started to annoy my teammates by playing the music at every opportunity. I also met a really nice girl who mentioned liking my website. We have now ice bathed, showered and eaten, and now it is time for bed. This was another great day to be a Canadian soccer player - thank you Canada.
