ONE MORE TRAINING AND VANCOUVER ARRIVAL 13-15th Jan 2012

I find myself tired tonight - no real surprise. We just played an inter-squad game for 90 minutes. I thought that everyone played well and gave the scrimmage everything they had. It was a fitting end to a good camp. Now we head to Vancouver for THE tournament. I am so excited, but I think we are all a little apprehensive as well. I have never played in a home tournament and can't wait to play in front of our fans. We have one more training session in the morning and then we are off to Vancouver. Here we come!

We landed in Vancouver yesterday evening. It was wonderful to finally arrive here. Everyone on the squad was in a brilliant mood as we loaded the team bus and headed into the city.

Making the arrival even more special was seeing the BC Place stadium all lit up in red, quite the sight to see. We have nothing planned for the day and everyone loved having some free time to do something other than soccer. My sister Sara and her husband Chris, live here in the city, so I spent a wonderful day with the two of them. Sara is due in early April so most of the day I was able to help her organize baby clothes and blankets. Living across the country means I have missed much of her pregnancy, so  I loved having the chance to be helpful.

Finally, I enjoyed a great dinner with some old friends and ex-National team mates: Amy Vermeulen and Taryn Swiatek. Both are Vancouver residents and I always love having the chance to meet up with them while I am in town. We were a party of 13, so it was a good time all round as we laughed and caught up on news. Thanks to them for making the trek out to see us. I am now off to bed.
