RHIAN SOCCER JOURNALS

BRING IT ON                   10th December 2011

Today we had a recovery day to rest our tired bodies: Thank goodness. Yesterday was a tough day and we have needed time to recover and rebuild. We used full body weights in the morning,  followed by an intense practice session on the field in the afternoon. Of course, starting any day with a full, intense session in the weights room is not easy. For the rest of the day you feel fatigued and your body is tired. Yesterday was just that: A day of fatigue and feeling tired.

So today we were able to sleep-in for a while. The rest felt great, and the day became even better when Liverpool won their match. I had forgotten how little soccer is shown on television in the United States. I probably would not have minded missing the Liverpool game so much, had the El Classico been watch-able, thank goodness for the internet.

In the afternoon we eased back in with some mobility and stability exercises - nothing too strenuous. In fact, the exercises felt good to get my body moving and then we did some stretching. I urgently needed this.

Tomorrow is apparently going to be another very hard day for us, not something you enjoy hearing or overly look forward. Mind you, once we have done the session, there is a wonderfully, euphoric feeling. As the saying goes, to be the best, you have to train like the best. There are no corners to cut - bring it on!
