RHIAN SOCCER JOURNALS

STOP STUDYING AND BACK TO CAMP     12th September 2011

Well. It's  official, folks- I HAVE FINISHED MY ANATOMY COURSE.

I thought that this news might put me on cloud nine, at least for the week since I wrote my last exam, but instead I just feel tired and relieved.

I am much more excited about heading into camp in Kansas City than anything else. My family did treat me to a great dinner out. It was a wonderful celebration of completing the course and coming to an end of all the studying (much of it on the road.)

Now, it is time to get back to work. I am writing this journal from he lounge at Chicago's O'Hare airport. It has been quite a time since I was last in the United States, and flying on 9/11 was probably not a great idea.

The anniversary of the tragedy that happened 10 years ago, and the tragedies that have occurred since, evoke the sadness and heartache. I remember that I was in my first year of university. It is a day that neither I nor anyone else  will ever forget and, hopefully, it is an atrocity that has changed the world for the better.

Terrorists are still bent on extremism, fear, destruction and harm, but for the most part I have found that the memory of 9/11 has brought people together. It was an awful moment in the history of the world, and the families touched by it are in my thoughts and prayers..

With one or two exceptions, the team is assembling and I am looking forward to meeting the new coach and training in a tough camp. There is no better way to get things restarted than a two game series against the best team in the world. I am even looking forward to writing more journals. With no studying to do, I have no more excuses. A bientot!
