RHIAN SOCCER JOURNALS

SOAPS AND ANTS                 1st June 2011

The best way to start any day, especially after a couple of tough training days, is with caliper testing. This is more prosaically called "fat testing. "

I certainly could have had a better type of wake up call, but even the caliper announcement didn't diminish my mood too much, after I had enjoyed such a great night's sleep. As I have mentioned before we have had some tough days of training recently, so last night I had all but passed out into my bed. I slept uninterrupted for 9 hours straight - what a great feeling!

The morning eventually turned out to be a quiet one. There was my usual struggle with my physiology studies, and a TV episode of Bones.  I have begun watching a new show, The Game of Thrones. I am almost embarrassed to write that I am watching this soap opera, this trash, but have to admit to really enjoying it. The whole team has, admittedly red faced, started watching the show, and we even ended up having a discussion about the show during our training warm up. This is not good news as, if caught, we might have been hard put to explain this to our coaching staff. For those who haven't yet seen it, the show depicts a mythical world, which is sorta, kinda based on the middle ages.

Sorry these journals have been so short and intermittent, but the only other thing of interest that occurred today was an ant infestation. I am not sure if this is a testament to how I grew up, but I am not really bothered by ants. D is. So, Raid has been liberally applied to the room, and the result is that I am now writing this in the hotel lobby, while D searches for bodies. I will go back to check on D's vital signs soon
