TOUGH TRAINING DAYS            30th May 2011

It was a tough day of training today. The time is now 8:30 pm and I am thinking seriously of collapsing into bed.

Unfortunately the training session started today with a team talk which was used to explain that today was going to be rigorous, but the lighter of the two days. In other words, tomorrow is REALLY going to be long, hard and intense. Nothing like anticipation to test mental preparedness.

Ironically, we had the morning off today, so after a short bout of studying I watched a show to relax. I sort of knew that the afternoon session would be tough. Robyn has been telling me for a long time that I should watch the show: Game of Thrones. I finally complied, and it was … well  different, but I enjoyed it. I am looking forward to watching the rest of the season.

All this training is an excellent test of our psychological and mental capabilities. Meanwhile, we can use the most mundane of topics to move our thoughts away from all the fatigue, muscle soreness and hard work. This evening for instance, the squad had a lengthy academic discussion about which animal or insect is the most useless on this planet? There were compelling arguments made for the mosquito, but this was too easily identified so it was soon omitted. Instead the focus moved to the raccoon, the spider, the skunk and the panda.

I am going to frustrate many people as I am not going to tell you what the consensus was finally. However, I do intend to mention that Tank has definitely had some kind of bad experience with a raccoon in recent times, judging by the fervor and animal choice she brought to the discussion!!
