RHIAN SOCCER JOURNALS

ROMAN ROUTINE                8th May 2011

Happy Mother's Day to any and all mothers out there. I know everyone on the team, just like me, was really feeling bad about not seeing their mothers today, and wishing that we were closer. We would love to be able to hug them and thank them in person for everything they have done, and do, for us.

More prosaically, I enjoyed sleeping in this morning. To know that there was no time I had to be somewhere was wonderful. I enjoyed a really good evening with my sister Sara and her husband Chris last night, and because I had forayed into Rome yesterday, I did not feel guilty about in deciding to stay in the hotel for my day off. I usually feel as if I am wasting a day when this happens, but there was no chance of this on today.

Just before lunch I did decide to go to the mall with a couple of my teammates, but only an hour or two outside the hotel was needed. The mall isn't very far and it is big enough for all of us to get lost on our own for a bit. Some personal time is something everyone needs now and then.

Once back at the hotel it was back to the books for me while most people headed to the pool to work on their tans. Today was extremely hot and I was forced to play team mum and demand that my teammates apply sunscreen. However, I am not sure just how many listened to me. We will find out soon.

This evening involved some hockey watching, not live, but a replay of the Canucks' game 5, and then some soccer watching, Man U v. Chelsea. This was just a great, relaxing evening to prepare us all for another hard week of work which we know is ahead of us. Off to bed.
