CATS AND MOSQUITOES            17th April 2011

Happy Birthday to Jodi who turns...... is she only 16?

We had a rare early session this morning. It makes for good morale to shake things up a little when we start to get into too much of a routine. Of course, it also means that we had the afternoon off instead of the morning.

The practice was a good one, but to be honest, my favorite part was probably when we arrived back at our rooms and Jonelle found a cat lying on her bed!!! This hotel has a ton of cats. In fact we spend a great deal of time just watching and commenting on these four legged bandit felines, but this was definitely the first time we had found one relaxing in our rooms. We figure that this is the first time that the cat has been caught, and that this was not her first visit.

Since Jonelle is on the ground floor, and she keeps her window open to let in pleasant cool breezes, and because we often vacate our rooms for hours at a time for training, it is likely that the cat uses Jonelle's bed for her afternoon siesta. We are obviously not the only ones who become stuck in a routine. It must be a nice relaxing break for the cat, away from an Italian survival of the fittest lifestyle.

The other creatures we deal with on a regular basis in the hotel are the mosquitoes. They are everywhere. I am by far the most vocal bug killer, but KK is the best mosquito murderer of them all. She kills twice as many as anyone else. However, whether I kill them or not, I go at them the most aggressively, and, usually, I succeed in encouraging them to leave my room and go into someone else's.

D tells me that only female mosquitoes actually inject the poison to decoagulate the blood. I am however, not interested in their gender as they buzz annoyingly around my head. All must die. I will end with a "go Habs go", and a goodnight.
