CANADA'S WNT
CAMP UNDERWAY IN WASHINGTON 18th May 2010
En route to the Canada Women's Team national camp in
Washington, DC, we landed at Washington's Reagan airport last night. It was a
good occasion to see everyone again. As I wrote previously, I was meant to be
with the team in China, but unfortunately I was grounded for a week by “the”
volcano. There has been quite a time interval since I last saw everyone.

Once at the team hotel, there was little time for
socializing. We all headed straight to bed. For most of the team, this has
been a long day of travel. Tuesday morning, the late arrivals were granted a bit
of a sleep in, while yesterday's early arrivals had a morning battery of tests
in the hotel gym. This included the caliper measurement (which means fat
testing). The late arrivals will have the pleasure of doing this test tomorrow
morning. Also, we were tested on our long jump, both legs and single leg, as
well as height of jump testing, with and without arms, as well as with and
without counter movement.
The afternoon session was held at the Maryland Soccer
Complex, which is a very impressive place. The training session went quite well,
but we are definitely rusty. These two weeks of training together are definitely
needed. Chemistry is something else that really needs to be worked on. Many
players do not know each other and have not played together.. For myself, I am
glad to be back playing with the squad and my Canadian teammates.
Not much else happened today. Much of the day was spent
settling in and getting reacquainted with our AMAZING medical staff. Even though
it is only the first day of camp, their room is already filled to the brim. I
don't think we have a glut of injuries; we really just like hanging out there.
Later on, we had a great team viewing of American Idol and Glee.
Now, I am in bed and looking forward to getting a good
night's sleep.
