HOME TO OSLO FROM TURKEY
21st March 2010
We arrived home to Oslo from Turkey yesterday evening, I was happy to be heading back home to Oslo, although
I was not quite as pleased to see all the snow still on the ground here.
The trip to Turkey was good, even though we lost both exhibition matches. I believe that the pre season is for tinkering,
learning and trying new things, so I don’t care how many games we lose, BEFORE the real season starts.
Our game against the Danish team, Brøndby, ended in a 2-1 loss. They had previously lost to Klepp although they
did not use their top players in that match. And, for me, the game was an important one. We were horrible in the first half
and Brøndby are a good team. We came off the field at the half 2-0 down with our tails between our legs, utterly deflated.
We were embarrassingly bad.
The important thing though was how we responded to this. It is no exaggeration to say that we changed our game
completely and we dominated the second half. We were unfortunate not to, at the very least, tie the game up.
We scored half way through the second period and put huge pressure on them for the rest of the game. At the
same time, our goalie came up huge and saved a breakaway for us.
The camp was only a week long, but with the travel, daily games and practices, I feel physically exhausted. My
body is sore and I am looking forward to a day off. We plan to watch the Liverpool- Man U game, before heading back
to training tomorrow.
