THE QUIET BEFORE THE SWISS 22ndFebruary, 2010
Today was another very quiet day here in Cyprus.

We had training at 9:30 this morning, and I don't think I was the only blurry eyed player out on
the training pitch. Carolina tends to run quite long training sessions, and on this occasion, we didn’t
get back to the hotel until just before 1:00 pm. However, even though the practices are less totally physically
demanding than they used to be under Even, Carolina’s are still mentally and physically tough.

We spent a great deal of time on movement work, as well as some shooting and fast footwork.
And, I have to admit that I didn’t think that we were overly sharp today. I don’t blame the coaching
staff for being a little disappointed in us. I know we are disappointed in ourselves and we are going
to have demand more from one another if we plan on being successful at this Cyprus tournament.

After the morning training, we had lunch, physiotherapist treatment and then a technical meeting
at 5:00 pm. During this meeting we watched video footage of our game against Poland. These video sessions
are not always the most exciting of things to do, but they are critically important. For myself, I know that
as a defender, the videotape really helps to highlight some mistakes. Even more,
the tapes show how we have
made errors as a cohesive defensive backline. You can be told something a million times over, but it is not
until you actually see it, right there in front of your eyes, that the point is firmly driven home.
The rest of the evening has been quiet. I am watching television and playing cards. Focus now is on
the first match against Switzerland on Wednesday.
