WHILE WE WERE AWAY....           23rd December 2009

 

Life does not stand very still, and plenty has happened while we were away in Italy. First, it is Christmas and so my very best wishes to all readers and soccer players for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy 2010. I will try to write a Journal on our Italian adventures soon.

While we were away, The Canadian Soccer Association announced that Christine Sinclair is the female selection for the 2009 Canadian Players of the Year award for the fifth consecutive year. Sincy was honored in a vote shared by Canadian media (50%) and Canadian coaches who have taken the Canadian Soccer Association’s national course at the B and A levels (50%). Sincy was also selected to the year-end WPS All-Star Team.

The final list of female nominees from the Women’s national team was:

Meanwhile, in Norway at the end-of-year team dinner, Team Strommen's coaches and players selected Diana Matheson as their player of the year.

 

The team ended in fourth place in the Premier League and was losing finalist in the Norway Cup.
