RHIAN'S SOCCER JOURNALS:
PREPARATION DOWN UNDER 21st May 2008
We had an 8:00am breakfast this morning, but I would say that at least half of the team was in the dining room
by 7:15am. The jet lag is catching up with us.

We were on the road and headed to our first of two training sessions by 8:30am, and we walked the 5 blocks to
the gym. Our second training, scheduled for this afternoon, is at the National Stadium where we will be playing. This always
means a lighter session as we aren't ever allowed onto the field for very long.

With this in mind, we had a harder training in the morning and ran sprints on the treadmills at the local university. We
were not all that popular there, as we took up every available machine. I have to admit that we looked pretty cool though: 18
women pounding it out in a row!

We had to return from training as quickly as possible as our trip to Manly beach left at 10:00am. We were basically on time,
which is pretty good for us, and then we were on our way to do some sight seeing. We had pre-ordered our lunch at a local
restaurant, so we were given an hour of free time to wander around.

Most people found something to purchase, but I found everything a little expensive. We were in a surfing area so all the stores
were full of brand name ones, and the prices are pretty comparable to Canadian ones... and thus expensive in my eyes.

However, Amy, Robyn and I found a little cafe and had a pleasant little sit down by the beach with our drinks. We took quite
a few pictures on the beach, and tried to take some of ourselves on the camera's timer. I think they came out quite well.

By the time we got back to the hotel, we only had a few hours before we had to leave for training number two. This is the
one at the National Stadium, which is an amazing place. It was exciting just to walk out onto the turf. When we walked up the
tunnel to our dressing rooms it was impossible not to think of all the famous players who have walked through it before us ...
including Harry Kewell!!!!

Supper quickly followed our return from practice. There has not been much down time today. We finished off with a short
meeting and then headed to our rooms. American Idol is on tonight, and everyone on the team seems excited. I am not
someone who usually watches, but I did tonight. That little David dude cries too much!
Night... or morning
