RHIAN'S SOCCER JOURNALS:

 RECOVERY TIME   7th April 2008

In the nature of soccer tours, there is not too much to write about today, the day after the match. We had a very relaxed day as we recovered from the scrapes and bruises of yesterday's game.

Wake up was a late one, which is always appreciated. Then we boarded the bus to find somewhere good to walk and stretch. Usually we can just head out from the hotel to find some grass, but this is harder in the desert of Juarez. We wanted a piece of grass on which to stretch out our bodies. This meant that we had to travel about 10 minutes.

First we drove back to the field we had practiced on two days ago, but instead of going on the actual pitch, we walked around the local golf course instead. Usually I would find this a little dangerous, with little white missiles whizzing around. However, on this occasion, everything was fine. There was not one person golfing. In fact, the only thing we saw on the golf course were grounds keepers and one dead duck ...I could have done without the duck!!

I spent the afternoon reading and relaxing, while others slept and others met with their parents. The parents of quite a number of my teammates have made the trip down here to Mexico, and their support is hugely appreciated. I am not sure whether they know it or not, but that tiny patch of red in the sea of green is heart warming to say the very least.
