RHIAN'S SOCCER JOURNALS:
FINAL PREPARATIONS FOR JUAREZ, MEXICO 27th March 2008
It was our usual morning here, except that I broke the routine by having an omelet, rather than sticking
to my trusted and true read and peanut butter.

Then, after eating, we had a meeting with our Manager to go over what Juarez, Mexico is going to be like.
I appreciate the fact that the coaching staff keeps us up to date on what to expect in the way of facilities, hotels,
crowds, and areas. When we are traveling, I like to prepare a visual picture of where I am going, especially when
I know Juarez is going to be so important in regards to our future.
We only had one training session session today, so Even obviously decided to make it a long one. Actually, it
may not have been that long at all, but in the heat, it definitely did feel like a long time. We did a bit of everything in
training, from straight fitness work to shadow play, but my favorite part remains shooting ... of course, this was the
area of practice when my team won.

We had a quiet afternoon, when all we really did was to go for a walk, and do some stretching. Kiss, D and I
ended up taking an ice bath in the ocean. It was a very different experience than in Cyprus. For one thing the waves
are huge. And, once they have broken on the beach, the rip current sucks back out with an amazing amount of
force. Obviously such conditions ended up in a game of chicken between the three of us....

Well it was kinda like a game of chicken. Mostly it was us against the force of the sea, and the sea won. We
had a great time though, standing in the surf ankle deep and trying to stay upright as these huge waves crashed
around us and tried to drag us back out to sea. I know I am making this sound very dangerous, but it wasn't as
bad as it sounds. However, when Kiss and I did get scared on one occasion, we did leave D in the surf. It was
not the proudest moment of our lives.

Supper at our hotel was excellent and then we had a final team meeting to close out the day. We have been
having many meetings with our team psychologist and mental coach. We want to go into Mexico was all our 'T''s
crossed and every last detail addressed, as they say.
