RHIAN'S SOCCER JOURNALS:

PRACTICE SESSIONS UNDERWAY FOR TOURNAMENT

13th January 2008

Almost everyone on the squad slept until their alarms began ringing this morning. The only people that didn't sleep this long were those who had managed to get some shut eye on the plane trip. Personally, I slept the sleep of those who have passed out, and once again this morning, I was not feeling all that hot. I felt very groggy.

We took a while to get systems functioning, but eventually we headed out to training for 1:00 pm, and by then, most of us were fairly awake, at least mentally. Out of the window of our hotel the day looked to be a humid, smoggy one, but it actually turned out to be quite pleasant.. To tell the truth, it was perfect soccer weather; the temperature was mild, and the skies were actually blue overhead. Rather ominously, there were grey clouds all around the training field, but above us were brilliant blue skies. An omen perhaps?

The training and practice sessions went well. I think everyone was just happy to be outside and running, after spending so long sitting down and being cramped these past few days. I know that this was true for me. The training regimen wasn't a particularly hard one, but it did get our brains moving again. It's odd how the body and the brain can sometimes work without each other. I felt great running out there; but I wasn't always running the right way ... if you get my drift.

The whole day was a relatively quiet one, with only the training session to break it up. Tomorrow will probably involve more activity, seeing that most us us will have fully woken up by then. Good night for now. Rhian.
