OTTAWA FURY & W LEAGUE:

ROBYN GALE, AMY VERMEULEN AND RHIAN WILKINSON SELECTED TO W-LEAGUE ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

Three Ottawa Fury players were selected to the W-League Championship All-Tournament Team today by the United Soccer Leagues. Defender Robyn Gayle was selected for her all-around defence and a blocked shot on the goal line in the semi-finals; Amy Vermeulen was selected for her goal scoring; Rhian Wilkinson was selected for her outstanding play in the semi finals and finals.

Also selected was Rhian’s former teammate at the University of Tennessee Lindsey Patterson for her game winning goal for third place, and National Team colleague Christine Sinclair who was selected as the Tournament's Most Valuable Player.

GK – Lisa Brookens Seattle – One goal allowed, 12 saves in 118 minutes

D – Martina Franko Vancouver – Two goals and an assist

D – Sasha Andrews Vancouver – Goal, goal-line clearance in championship

D – Robyn Gayle Ottawa – Goal-line shot block in semifinal

D -Heidi Hollenbeck Charlotte – Solid play in both matches

M – Lindsey Patterson Seattle – Game-winner for Third Place

M – Ashley Swinehart Charlotte – Goal, shot off crossbar in 3rd Place game

M – Rhian Wilkinson Ottawa – Outstanding play in both games

F – Tiffeny Milbrett Vancouver – Goal and an assist

F – Amy Vermeulen Ottawa – Goal in semifinal

F – Christine Sinclair Vancouver – Three goals, Championship MVP
