SENIOR WOMEN'S NCAA TOUR

Canada’s Women’s National Team Head Coach, Even Pellerud, has released his 18-woman roster for the team’s upcoming four-city, 5 match tour of the USA where they will play against the University of Louisville and Purdue University in Louisville, KY, the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO, the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS, and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE.

The team is expected to depart for Louisville, KY on 6th April 2006 and returns to Canada from Omaha, NE on 15th April, the day after the match against Nebraska.

Returning to the senior team is Melanie Booth of Burlington, Ontario. She has earned 15 senior caps, but her last appearance was against Brazil on July 17, 2003. She has played 22 times, earning 3 goals with the U-19 squad, and finishing in the 2002 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship Final against the United States.

Also joining the Senior National Team for this camp is Robyn Gayle of Mississauga, Ontario. Gayle has earned 18 caps with the U19/U20 Team, participating in both FIFA Women’s World Championships (Canada 2002, Thailand 2004). She also played in the 2002 World Championship final against the USA.

“I consider this a pre-season tour where my goal is to do some experimenting and to let the players have lots of playing time,” said Pellerud. “It is a golden opportunity to invite two new faces (Booth and Gayle) who have had good seasons with their NCAA teams and it was a chance to give them a chance at the senior level.”
